BlackBerry's key selling points dropped for handsets set to revive the company
Turning its back on its former key selling point, new reports have suggested that the first BlackBerry 10 handsets will do away with the company’s iconic full QWERTY keyboard.
Falling in line with the market dominant Apple iPhone 4S and the Android powered Samsung Galaxy S3, BlackBerry parent company RIM has confirmed that the yet to be unveiled BlackBerry 10 launch handset will opt for a full touchscreen affair as opposed to the company’s much loved physical keyboard.
One of the defining factors of any BlackBerry handset in recent times, the omission of a full QWERTY keyboard will no doubt split opinion amongst fans of BlackBerry handsets as the Canadian based company looks to reverse its fortunes and regain its footing in the smartphone market.
"The physical keyboard is the most dominant item that separates out Research In Motion from its competitors," BGC Financial analyst Colin Gillis said. "If you are not playing to your historical strengths you may find it more difficult to get traction."
