Next-gen Apple iPod Touch set to see iPhone revamp influence change in form factor
Whilst the tech world awaits the upcoming Apple iPhone 5 release date, new reports have suggested an upcoming iPod Touch revamp will see the leading PMP adopt the same 4-inch display tipped for inclusion on the next-gen smartphone.
With little attention having yet to be given to the annual revamp of Apple’s market defining personal media players, new reports have suggested the Cupertino company will introduce a raft of updates to the Sony Walkman rival, bringing the device in line with the updates coming to the next-generation iPhone handset.
Citing an unnamed ‘Asian source’, Japanese tech blog Macotakara has suggested that the “new iPod touch (5th generation) will have a 4 inch LCD which is the same size with coming iPhone 5.”
Suggesting the company will do away with the current polished metal back in favour of a brushed aluminium offering, a feature that is said to be heading to the revamped iPhone 5, the anonymous tipsters have revealed the iPhone 4S’s dual-core A5 processor with make the jump to the app-filled MP3 player.
Although once again far from confirmed, it is widely expected that any change in iPhone dock connector will be rolled out to the handset’s PMP sibling, with numerous reports currently suggesting Apple is on the verge of replacing its longstanding 30-pin connector with a new, slimmed down 19-pin model.
