Nokia forced into second apology of Lumia 920 ad
9th Sep 2012 | 16:57

Marketing material failed to make clear that images were not taken on handset’s camera
After apologising at the end of last week for the veracity of the video footage, saying sorry it had, “…failed to make clear that it was a simulation and not shot using the new PureView camera on the Nokia Lumia 920,” the Finnish company made a second statement earlier today regarding the stills in its Lumia 920 marketing material.
“Some further misunderstanding has arisen about still photographs taken at night in the street in Helsinki. We want to be very clear that these still images were taken from the same video [at the centre of the story]. [It] is a representation of the benefits of optical image stabilisation only and our apology was for using any part of the video without a clear disclaimer.”
The statement comes after the Nokia Lumia 920 was revealed at a tightly controlled event in New York last week. Nokia’s refusal to reveal a release date has led experts to claim that it will not be released ahead of key new competitors, including Apple’s iPhone 5 and Samsung’s Galaxy Note 2.
