EA Sports outs new UEFA Euro 2012 screen shots ahead of the game's download based release
Following the game’s official unveiling last month, developer EA Sports has released a series of new UEFA Euro 2012 screenshots ahead of the football sim’s launch later this month.
Set to forgo the traditional hard launch and be made available exclusively as a paid-for digital download for existing FIFA 12 owners, the UEFA Euro 12 add-on will hit core consoles next week, generating a flurry of excitement around the upcoming international football tournament in the process.
The new screens, which offer little in terms of new information around the game, show off the French national side as well as in-game match ups with Italy vs. Croatia and England vs. France.
Having announced the European Championship title would not be released as an in-store entity in its own right but instead but be a paid-for download exclusive to FIFA 12 owners, EA recently felt the need to defend its decision.
"We felt this was the best way to extend that experience and deliver fresh new content to our fans," Steve Frost, Communications Manager at EA said. "We expect that some fans who may not have FIFA 12 will want to play Euro 2012 and therefore purchase both, but the bigger opportunity for us is to offer our loyal and passionate FIFA fans new content.
UEFA Euro 2012 Features
Following the route to European glory UEFA Euro 2012 will see gamers presented with all 53 UEFA member national teams, the tournament’s eight official stadiums and the full selection of the over the top fanfare associated to the international sporting event.
With online modes allowing those who splash out on the European themed DLC to compete against their friends and international rivals for tournament glory, EA has revealed the title will come with an all new ‘Expedition Mode’.
“The all-new Expedition Mode designed exclusively for UEFA EURO 2012 enables fans to build, manage and compete with a customized team against other European nations, crafting the perfect strategy for European domination. Fans will choose their favourite European player or FIFA 12 Virtual Pro to captain their customized team, win matches to earn better players from defeated nations, and then defeat the best nations to earn the best players in a campaign quest to defeat all 53 countries and complete the journey to conquer Europe.”
